Seriously. Are you kidding me? People actually like EASTWICK?
Well, I suppose people liked THE SECRET DIARY OF DESMOND PFEIFFER back in the UPN Days. Anyway, a Twitter group *chuckles* has begun an effort to save ABC from canceling the show that we know will get probably get axed in the next few weeks. Act fast and you can join the ‘revolution’ before they hit triple digits!
Palm to Face…
I’ve disclosed this before, but I will again: I’m one of the “Nuts” guys that helped save “Jericho.” I’m quite proud of that. So I’ll let you decide if my palm-to-face is more or less meaningful knowing that.
Eric S, yes but JERICHO was watched by over 10 million people on average. It was treated poorly and could have been big for CBS. EASTWICK and TBL were never watched by anything close to decent numbers.
I agree 100%. I think the Jericho campaign was justified. I was trying to sarcastically state that even I, as a fan-campaigner, found the campaigns for Eastwick and TBL to be ludicrous. TBL in particular.
The thing with the Jericho campaign’s success is that I don’t think CBS realized the show had such a following. The organized effort with the nuts showed them and told them that “the fans are out there”… at least enough to justify a short second season.
Generally I’m not a fan of fan campaigns – think they’re a waste of time and money and are often used as an excuse for attention-whoring (hello, Veronica Mars and T:SCC fans) – but I think the Jericho situation was unique in that CBS seemed on the fence anyway and the fan outcry really taught them something. If a network exec or a studio is dead set on something (like say, canceling TSCC), no amount of anything will sway them.
Also, so far I haven’t even seen or encountered that many Eastwick or TBL fans online. I’d watch Eastwick if it happened to be on, and I’ve seen two episodes thus far, and I like it enough, but I wouldn’t miss it if it were gone as much as I’d miss, say, Castle if it ended.
I actually sort of like Eastwick. But then, I’m a sucker for shows with the Devil in it. It’s kind of a poor Reaper replacement for me.
That said, I’m not going to cry any tears over its departure.
‘Eastwick’ is definitely growing on me. It’s not a great show by any means (its honestly reminds me of something that should be airing on ABC Family), it’s addictive and cute. With that said I’ve realized a renewal just isn’t in the cards, but I hope ABC allows the show to wrap up some of the plots.
