CW reboots a reboot – Evicting Ashlee Simpson and Colin Egglesfield from MELROSE PLACE!

Woah! Looks like CW is getting serious about trying to save Melrose Place!

Trouble in Paradise
Since I’d rather not quote Ausiello (nor link him), I’ll just state according to the show-runners it was always the plan to nix Ashlee Simpson-Wentz after the murder mystery wrapped up (Episode 12). Eggsfield was also canned because he made the show feel ‘to dark’. Heather Locklear will continue to be in ever episode this season (until at least episode 18) and a love interest will be added for her. New residents will also be moving into the complex and the show will take on a more ‘fun’ feel to it.
As a fan of the original and remake…I’ll alright with this. Ashlee Simpson has become to person to hate on the show (she has shifty eyes) and Eggsfield is a pretty useless character.

Is Egglesfield Auggie? If so, then I’m all for getting rid of him.
Jen,
Yep.
Do they really think this is going to make a difference?
Thanks, Brad!
Alex, It can’t hurt, can it?
Show-wise? Possibly. Many people hated Ashlee Simpson’s character so they might tune back in when its over. Concluding the murder storyline and moving in a different direction may attract new viewers.
E is reporting a major character will be killed off. It’s possible one of those two above are not going to be coming back in the future…
Colin may not be much of an actor, but I think he’s really hot and that’s what Melrose is about. Not happy about that one. As for Ashlee, she’s incredibly annoying, so good riddance. I hope her character ends up in the pool with a knife in her back, too. Looking forward to seeing Billy Campbell as Locklear’s new love interest. Both he and Heather dated Heroes’ HRG on “Dynasty” back in the 80s. The original ‘Melrose’ also underwent major retooling after Heather’s arrival. I hope it works out again.
Why don’t they cancel it already? Both Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries repeats had more viewers and demo than Melrose Place.
Ricardo,
because a network can’t just air repeats all week long and expect viewers to tune in when the show airs a new episodes. Fox does this with BONES/HOUSE as well.
They should bring Reaper back, it did way better than this crap and even against American Idol with little publicity.
