FOX renewed AMERICAN DAD.  I know the millions of fans who were waiting in fear of the possibility of cancellation are now cheering in the streets, and lighting couches on fire in their lawns in Columbus, Ohio.  Wait…

That isn’t news.  Was anyone even worried about this?  This is right up there with a headline of “GRAY’S ANATOMY Renewed!”  The only reason those kind of articles even get written is to kiss up to the people who run the show and the talent.  Anything to make them feel special.

Even Roger Wasn’t Worried About Cancellation and He Worries About Everything

There was just never any question that Seth McFarlane’s least popular show would be renewed.  FOX needs Seth happy, and Seth likes his creations.  Even if one of the creations is just Paul Lynde stolen and put in an alien body.  AMERICAN DAD does well enough on its own too.  ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT’s genius took a stab at animation and came up with a flop.  FOX’s animation domination works for a reason:  THE SIMPSONS and FAMILY GUY, the other shows CLEVELAND and AMERICAN DAD are just riding on their coat tails.  Sure, they may entertain but there would be no domination without the two big shows.

I’m still happy, because I find AMERICAN DAD to be the best of McFarlane’s shows.  So despite the news being in the “duh,” category, it’s at least good news.
